Artmaking is not about exerting control and dominion over the execution of preconceived concepts or designs. To make art is to surrender. Your very being becomes an extension of whatever force you allow to move through you. Joined with God, I marvel at how nature threads her way into our work as though she longs to be known. And then I wonder if perhaps some element of Self is crying out in that longing. Perhaps a form of me has been hidden in the earth all along waiting to be revealed, waiting for me to finally know her.
